Ubiquiti UniFi Protect: G6 AI Cameras, ENVR Enterprise NVR, and Complete Smart Surveillance System

During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, availability issues caused many loyal Ubiquiti users—and even managed service providers—to explore alternative brands to meet urgent surveillance needs. However, since then, Ubiquiti has not only resolved these logistical challenges but also significantly expanded the UniFi Protect platform. Today, it stands as a comprehensive, AI-driven surveillance ecosystem designed for everyone—from small businesses to global enterprises.

My Expectations: Access & Intercom Integration

As someone deeply invested in the UniFi ecosystem, here are features I hope Ubiquiti introduces in the near future:

  • Intercom Viewer support for Doorbell Pro: Answer calls directly in the UniFi Access app’s intercom interface.
  • Facial recognition + fingerprint unlocking: Biometric-based door unlocking using UniFi Protect and Access together.
  • Advanced VOIP and intercom integration: Let users page or call directly from doorbells or access panels to UniFi Talk endpoints.
  • Access App mic control: Set auto mute/unmute for improved intercom usability in noisy environments.

These features would further unify surveillance, access control, and communication in a way that few other ecosystems can offer.

From overcoming pandemic-era supply issues to launching the feature-rich G6 series and ENVR, Ubiquiti has demonstrated a clear vision for smart, scalable surveillance. The UniFi Protect platform now offers a mature, AI-powered system with unmatched integration potential—ready to serve homes, businesses, and enterprises with equal precision.

With the promise of deeper Access and VoIP integration ahead, the UniFi ecosystem continues to deliver on the needs of a growing and passionate global community.
